First off.. thanks Aizhen for recommending my cupcakes to Debbie
Debbie had given me a call the other day asking if i could do some cupcakes for her. She wanted some doggy cupcakes and some bear cupcakes with the words LINA on it… plus the special request of making the cupcakes as colourful as possible

Well… to change things around a bit, i decided to change the look of my doggies and decided to make some black and white spotted doggies.. as for the bears.. well.. i can’t change it up too much and they look pretty cute as they are so decided to leave them as they are.

My favourite of all the cupcakes i made in this set was the little black and white spotted doggy that was fast asleep… he looked so adorable that i really wanted to keep him.. but of course i can’t right :p Don’t you think he’s just super cute…

Here are a couple of other pictures i took of the doggy cupcakes… enjoy

Well.. the other day my friend called me up and asked me if i could make some beagle cupcakes for her.. she wanted it for her boyfriend who was celebrating his birthday today and who loved beagles.

I was a bit apprehensive at first considering that these couple of days the weather was so gloomy and humid that a lot of my fondant figurines were having problem drying out. In addition beagles are actually tri-coloured on the body which means i had to figure out a way to layer on the colours on the doggy without making him look like a very very overweight doggy
haha…

Anyway, after a couple of false starts i finally managed to do these little fellas up… and as usual.. i used the grass piping again.. hee.. that’s got to be my favourite tip so far cos no matter how i pipe the icing always turns out perfect
So here are the completed pictures of the cupcakes
Cute aren’t they

Another doggy birthday cupcake request came in from my cousin a couple of days a ago… but the twist was that she asked if i could do the dogs to look like West Highland Terriers or a Westie (as its usually called), since the birthday boy had just recently bought a Westie. So once again, with the order and theme of the cupcakes in place, i started looking for pictures of Westies to ensure that i got the right feel of the Westie before i start to model them using fondant.

After hours of looking at gorgeously cute Westie pictures on Google… which wasn’t really a chore considering I’m a major dog lover, i decided on a couple of poses for the cupcake toppers and quickly set about to do up the little Westies.

Due to the amount of detail i wanted on the face, they took me a little longer than expected, but i think they actually turned out quite cute… the only thing i regret not having captured well is the fluffiness of the Westie’s face. However, overall, i was quite satisfied with what i achieved.

In addition to the toppers, I decided to also try out a new flavour of cupcakes – Guiness Stout Chocolate cupcakes!! I’d been dying to this recipe out for ages, and since these cuppers were all going to adults i finally got my chance to do so
After mixing all the ingredients in and adding the all important vital ingredient of Stout, i popped them into the oven and waited anxiously for them to finish baking. Once they were out, i quickly tore one up to check for crumb texture and fluffiness. Surprisingly, these little fellas were deliciously rich and moist and were a little denser than the normal cakes i made. But for a chocolate cupcake, the denseness just made them taste all the more delicious! The Stout flavour wasn’t as strong as i expected but had mellowed to a very subtle yeasty flavour that complimented quite well with the chocolate. This is definitely going into my repertoire of new cake flavours
Hopefully the birthday boy will like them..
Well this is the completed product… i hope these will be a hit at the party!

After getting her cute doggy cupcakes, my Auntie asked me if i could do similar cupcakes for a colleague of hers who is also a dog lover. However, she wanted all the cupcakes to be topped with a dog rather than having some topped with doggy toys and bees, plus she wanted the doggies to be holding the words “Happy Birthday”. After some thinking i decided to make the letters in a cheery yellow since doggies always make me think of them happily romping outside in the grass with the sun shining, their little tails wagging… the colour yellow also gives me the same feeling.. so i thought having the letters in yellow seemed pretty apt.

Once she told me what she wanted, i quickly got down to making the cupcake toppers followed after by doing the cupcakes. These little fellas are sitting on a base of chocolate cupcakes..
My favourite doggy is still the one that is standing up begging. So i used those doggies to hold up the letters.. only thing you can’t see for these doggies are their cute little belly buttons i added :p I made 20 little doggies in all… the only regret i have is that i didn’t manage to put as much expression and change the doggie positions much since bulk of the little doggies were holding onto the letters.

I was talking to my cousin on msn the other day when she told me that my auntie’s birthday was coming up. After seeing the cute cupcakes that i did such as the bears and bees cupcakes and the lamb and duck cupcakes, my cousin asked if i could do some cupcakes for my auntie.
After thinking long and hard about what my auntie liked, i decided that i’d do some cupcakes topped with cute little dogs for her. My auntie is crazy about dogs and i remember always playing with a little chihuahua she had, called meatball when i was young. Meatball was super cute and very dedicated to my aunt. I remember she always followed my aunt around the house all the time. Unfortunately, meatball passed away some time ago.. and knowing how much meatball was missed, 2 of my cousins decided to pool their money together and get my auntie a schnauzer puppy. But alas, things weren’t to be.. a couple of days after the puppy was brought home, it became sick and died within a few days.
Well… i guess doggy cupcake toppers should be pretty safe and as long as they’re cute my aunt is sure to love them
After discussing the idea with my cousin, we decided to go ahead with the doggy idea but my cousin thought that we had to have bees too since they are so cute! Well… off i went to try out different little doggies and of course surf the internet for ideas or pictures of doggies that i could follow. I finally came upon a really cute doggy model from someone on flickr and decided to base my doggies on her cute ones
I made about 10 of these cute fellas and decided that of course with dogs you had to have some toppers with little doggy accoutrements such as doggy toys and of course doggy bowls. With this new idea in mind, i modeled some additional toppers of doggy bowls full of food and little doggy toys such as balls, a bone and hee hee.. a kong toy! Last but of course not least were the little bees and some flowers for accents.

Unfortunately i didn’t manage to take a photo of all the little cupcakes… but here are some of the cupcakes i did for her birthday. Don’t you think it’s adorable

My Auntie loved them and said no way was she going to be able to eat the little doggies… she said she’s probably going to store them in her freezer and take them out every now and then to look at them cos’ she just can’t bring herself to eat something that cute
Knowing that she loved the cupcakes really made my day
Hopefully i’ll continue to have a chance to do these cute little cupcakes and bring a little cheer to everyone that sees them.
