3 tier Minnie Castle cake

Minni castle cake 031009

Yvonne had contacted me after she had seen some of my creations on my website and said she loved how my toppers looked. As her daughters’ birthday was coming up she asked if i would be able to do a Minnie Princess Castle Cake for her she intended to have a Minnie Mouse birthday theme for the party.

After plenty of discussions as to the colours of the cake, pink was determined to be the colour of the day. As for the Minnie topper, well, it was going to be a castle cake so of course Minnie had to be in a ball gown!

So i did a little research on the web and found a nice Minnie picture of her in a ball gown and modelled my topper after the picture.

I had not made a castle cake before and this was to be my first attempt.. plus it was going to be in 3 tiers! Not the usual 2 tiers that i had grown comfortable with. So it wasn’t without a little trepedition when i started making the cake. However, although there were some boo boos during the making of the cake, i thought it turned out pretty well in the end. However, i think in the future i will try and see if i can cover the turrets in fondant rather than leaving it plain although i think in this case the brown turrets actually highlighted the pink of the cake. :)

Overall though, i was quite happy with the way the cake turned out. Yvonne too was very very happy with the cake and especially the Minnie Mouse topper. I think it was all that edible glitter i brushed on that gave the topper that little added sparkle and made it that much more magical :)

A pink pooh and friends cake

Pooh and friends sakura cake 190409

Cherine who had previously ordered the L’oreal cupcakes from me was back with an order for a birthday cake for her niece. Her request was for a Pooh themed cake but she wanted it in pink since her niece’s favourite colour was pink!

After thinking long and hard as to how to do a pink themed Pooh cake, i finally got the idea after looking at some pictures of Sakura blossoms which happened to be in their flowering season when i got the request for the cake! The idea was to do the cake with Pooh and friends with a Sakura tree in full blossom!!

I loved the way the cake turned out and this is to date one of my favourite cakes of all time.  And my favourite character on this cake is actually Eeyore which i made cross eyed trying to look at a little Sakura blossom that had landed on his nose :)

When Cherine’s niece saw the cake, the look of wonder on her face when she saw all the pooh and friends just made my day :) Haha…. she just wanted to pluck out all the individual characters to play with :) So cute!

Strawberry shortcake cake take 2

Strawberry shortcake house 110409

Linda came to me after seeing my Strawberry Shortcake cake here. She had only come across the cake after purchasing a little strawberry shorcake candle and was wondering if i would be able to do up a strawberry shortcake themed cake for her without any toppers.

After searching through the internet for ideas, i came across a cake which i thought would go well with Linda’s candle and suggested it to her. Linda agreed and i ended up doing a little 2 tier strawberry shortcake house for her. Unfortunately, as i didn’t have the candle, i can’t show you how the cake looked with the candle on it.. but here is the little Strawberry Shortcake house i ended up doing for Linda. Sorry for the bad pic :p Couldn’t seem to get it at a right angle to show off the design :)

Mini cupcakes for a Loreal Paris promotion!!

close up of white loreal paris cc

I got an e-mail from Cherine some time back and when i finished reading her e-mail i was stunned and ecstatic!!! She was doing a promotion for L’oreal Paris and was looking for someone to do some cupcakes for her with the L’oreal Paris logo.

Oh wow!!! This was such a honour.. to be asked to do cupcakes for a promotion! Ok ok… cool down!! I was probably getting ahead of myself.. they were only asking me for a price quote after all and i mean i may not be chosen in the end right? Right!! But come on how could i not get excited about this right?!!! haha..

Pink and blue loreal paris cc

Anyway after some discussion with Cherine, the final decision was that we would use edible images to do the L’oreal Paris logo which would be placed as a topper on top of swirls of icing and let the cupcakes be decorated with simple decorations such as sugar pearls or silver dragees to compliment the theme of the event.

As i don’t have an edible image printer at home, i had to source for someone to do the edible image for me and had sent them off to be printed when i got a call from Cherine 2 days before the actual event when she told me that there was an error in the logo they had previously sent me and it needed to be changed!! Yikes!! Unfortunately the printer had already printed out the logos for me so after some fast thinking on Cherine’s part, we chopped part of the logo i had printed so we were left with just the “White Perfect” which was what the event was for. With one disaster averted i was keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else would go wrong since troubles usually come in 3’s.

Well… luckily everything else went great and the cupcakes turned out great. I quickly packed them in boxes and off they went to their event! A couple of days later i heard back from Cherine who told me that the cupcakes were a hit at the event! It was the only item that had the attendees going back for more. haha.. oh wow!! I feel so honoured :)  Thanks Cherine for the opportunity to do the cupcakes for your event :)

Love is in the air…

Omega watch cupcakes in box

Jennifer called me up the other day after learning about my little blog and cupcake escapades from my cousin. Her request, some cuppies for Valentine’s Day of course :)

Close up of Omega Seamaster 007 watch cupcake

What was her request you might ask… well it was the Omega Seamaster which Daniel Craig wore in the most recent James Bond movie… (*007 theme song playing in my head as i type this). Sorry about that but i just can’t help it.. haha.. everytime someone mentions 007 or James Bond, the song just starts humming in my head and it’ll be stuck there for the rest of the night. Here’s a little side note and trivia… did you know that every single James Bond since the very beginning wore an Omega watch?! Some of you might be wacking yourselves on the forehead and going DUH!! but seriously i didn’t know that!!! haha… i guess i’m just a blur blob as my hubby always tells me :)

J heart D and piglet cupcake

Anyhow, Jenn’s boyfriend has been eyeing this watch ever since the latest Bond movie came out and since Jenn couldn’t give him the real deal, she decided to go for the next best thing :) A cupcake with an edible imitation of the watch!! Hee hee.. I thought that was so sweet! To ensure that i got the proper glittery strap accurate, I added some silver edible glitter to the strap of the watch.. then to add the finishing touches to the watch, i hand painted on the individual dials, numbers watch hands and of course the Omega insignia :)

Jenn shared some pics of her boyfriends surprised and happy expression when he saw the cuppies… although i can’t share all of them here with you, here are some of the pics she sent me. I’m guessing he loved them.. :) Happy Valentine’s Jenn and David! :)

Fairy cupcakes for a birthday

Fairies

Cassie and old friend of mine, asked if i could do some cupcakes for her for her friend’s birthday. She had stumbled across a picture of some fairy cupcakes and asked if i could do a replica of it. I must admit that the original cupcakes looked a tad better but i do hope that my final product still passed muster with Cassie and the birthday girl :)

Again, i took some really bad photos and only managed to salvage this one :p Hopefully the birthday girl and Cassie liked it :)

White and pink polka dot bear cake :)

front view of white and pink themed bear cake

I got an e-mail from Wee Ling some time back and she wanted to know if i could do a birthday cake for her daughter who was turning 1. As she would be having about 70 people at her party she wanted to know whether i could do a cake large enough to food so many people.

close up view of white and pink themed bear cake

Wee Ling had also done her homework and already knew exactly what design she wanted for the cake plus she even sent me a picture of the cake design she wanted. Wasn’t she great! :) With the design of the cake already pre-set, the only thing left was just to discuss whether or not the cake could feed 70 people. After some discussion with Wee Ling, it was decided that other than the 2 tier cake, we would add another 30 simple cupcakes to ensure that there would be enough cake for everyone :)

This was the final picture of the cake. Sorry for the bad pictures.. i was in a bit of a hurry so didn’t take as much time taking pictures this time round :p I hope the parents and Petra liked the cake. Happy Birthday Petra!!! :)

Flower birthday cake for Joyleen

top down view of Joyleen’s cake

Hui Boon e-mailed me after coming across my website. She loved the cake that i did for Natalie and wondered if i could do something similar topper for her daughter’s birthday.

Close up of Joyleen

Hui Boon was really nice and already had a cake design in mind, so for me, designing the cake was really simple as all i really needed to think about was the little girl topper for her cake :) As i always like to do the toppers a little different, i decided to do another girl topper that would differ from Natalie’s cake, and this was the final topper that i came up with. I thought she looked adorable. In keeping with the flower theme on the cake, Hui Boon also requested that the little girl topper be holding a bunch of flowers in her hand. :) I was really happy with the way this little girl turned out and i hope that Hui Boon loved it as much as i did :)

Joyleen’s birthday cake

Oh.. you guys might be wondering why there is one petal which is empty :) The reason for this is that the petal was left deliberately empty so that Hui Boon could add the candle onto the petal later on. So here’s wishing Joyleen a very Happy Birthday and i hope that she’ll get a blast from this cake when she’s older and looks back on these photos :)
