Another family cake request for 1st month celebration

Jana had come across my website and wanted a cake similar to one that I’d done previously here for a baby’s 1st month celebration. 

After speaking to Jana to find out more about what she wanted on the cake and obtaining pictures of her family, i set out to do the figurines for her. As i wanted something a little different from the other family cake i did for Joanna i decided to change the family positions a little as well as have the baby sucking on a bottle rather than just being held in her mother’s arms.

I liked how the final design turned out and hopefully Jana liked it too

Customised cupcakes for Valentine’s Day

Janette e-mailed me the other day and asked if i could do some customised cupcakes for her. She didn’t provide me much details but her initial request was for me to do a cupcake topper which was a white bear which her boyfriend had given her previously.

After some discussion as to the designs for the other cupcakes, she requested for Eeyore, Dumbo, and a pig, with the remaining cupcakes having a special message to her boyfriend. These were what the final cupcakes looked like  

Janette looked really excited when she came to collect the cupcakes and hopefully her boyfriend loved them as well as she did Happy Valentine’s Day you guys!!!

Happy family cake for Joanna..

Joanna stumbled across my website when she went searching for a way to celebrate her baby’s 1st month. She saw the cake i had done previously for a friend’s 1st month celebration and loved it and hoped that i could squeeze in her order.

After a lot of persuasion on her part, i finally agreed to squeeze it into my schedule. Due to the short notice, i couldn’t do the cradle for her as there wasn’t enough time for the cradle parts to dry before the cake was due. So Joanna asked if i could add in her son and daughter into the cake design instead. I agreed and requested for a picture of their happy family haha.. from the picture Joanna sent me, i noticed that her son was quite cheeky, but since it was Cameron’s 1st month celebration, i amended the position of the figurines a little so that Cameron would be the centre of attraction and would have the whole family surrounding him

I decided to leave the cake relatively simple since i wanted Cameron and the other family figurines to be the centre of attraction for the cake. This was the final result. I was really happy with the way the figurines turned out and i thought they looked rather like the photo Joanna had sent me What do you think?

Astroboy and Tabo cupcakes!

I got an e-mail from Dynelle recently after she came across my website. She asked if i could do some Astroboy and Tabo cupcakes for her as they were celebrating 2 of her friend’s birthdays on the same day and she wanted something special.

After some discussion we agreed to do a mixture of 2D and 3D cupcakes of Tabo and Astroboy… these were what i came up with  I just realised how long it’s been since I’ve even watched Astroboy cartoons.. haha… oh no.. i’m getting old!! I wonder if any of the kids out there even know what cartoon this is anymore or if they even still show this on TV! :p

Anyway, i do hope that Dynelle’s 2 friends liked the cupcakes and had a very Happy Birthday

Barney and friends cake for Luke!

This week has been really hectic for me with 3 requests for cakes all due on Saturday and Sunday, plus some cupcakes as well!! Whew! I think the 29th of November is a very very popular date and there are lots and lots of kids with birthdays due on that date considering the number of requests i got for cakes and cupcakes for this day!! Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming number of requests, i had to turn some of them down which made me a little upset So here’s a shout out to all those who i had to disappoint. I really am disappointed that i didn’t have a chance to do up your cakes and cupcakes, but i do hope that in the future i’ll have the opportunity to do up your cakes for you. Thank you so much for your wonderful support

Okie dokey… enough of my rambling… here’s today’s latest post A Barney and friends cake for Luke! I’ve had some other requests for these in cupcake form, but none confirmed the order. In the end, Gina was the one with enough faith in me to finally confirm the order for a Barney and friends cake Yay!! A new challenge.

Now to be very frank.. I’ve never watched an episode of Barney and friends and the only impression i ever had of this children’s program is that there is a purple dinosaur. So when Gina asked me to do a Barney and friends cake for her, i immediately got onto the information super highway and started researching on images of Barney and his friends. After spending an entire day looking at images of Barney, i was seeing purple (haha… sorry bad pun but i couldn’t resist :p), but the pictures gave me a good idea as to what the characters looked like and how to go about modelling them for the cake

So off i went to start on Barney. The 1st 2 figurines of Barney and friend came out too small to be used on the cake, so i ended up chucking them. But it was great practice though. Gina wanted something nice and bright for her cake as well.. so we decided on a party theme for the cake, and to give credance to that theme, i added some balloons, presents and colourful confetti circles in various colours! I thought the cake turned out great and the confetti really gave the cake a festive air Here’s a shout out to Luke, wishing him a very Happy Birthday and i hope that he liked the cake

Baby’s 1st month celebration cake and cupcakes

Rosaline called me up the other day and asked if i could do some cupcakes for her to celebrate her baby’s 1st month. Of course being neighbours and her husband being my hubby’s ex-colleague i of course agreed.

After discussing with Rosaline, we finally decided that the design of the cupcakes would be the same as the previous ones i’d done here. I love making these cupcakes as i think the sweet pea design and baby booties are so cute

Anyway after doing up the cupcakes i decided to make a little cake to go along with the cupcakes as a gift to Alan and Rosaline. There are lots of ideas for baby shower cakes out there and many of them are just gorgeous.. but as i wanted to do something a little different and incorporate both the parents and baby in the cake theme, i finally decided to make 2 figurines to represent Alan and Rosaline, and Rosaline holding the baby Rachel in her arms.

As i also wanted to incorporate elements of the baby theme, i decided to place the figurines sitting at the side of the cake so i could decorate the top of the cake with the baby cradle and other baby things. This was how the final cake turned out.. i thought it looked quite cute and was really happy with how it turned out

Here’s a picture of Alan, Rosaline and baby Rachel with their cake Hmm… does anyone think that the figurines look anything like Alan and Rosaline?? haha….
