Just got a call from my loyal supporter again today..
.. apparently the cupcake faces my Aunt gave her friends were a big hit and they were back for more Chocolatey Choc Madness cupcakes!!
This time around, they still wanted to have cupcake faces, but instead of glasses to have a a nose added instead… so i’ll be in the kitchen again this week baking up a fresh batch of cupcakes! Yay!
I’ll be sure to post up the pictures of the cupcakes when they’re done… in the meantime.. I’m trying to come up with a new cupcake flavour and do some wild experiments in the kitchen while I’m at it…
Anyone has any ideas??!!

My first cupcake order came in today… yippeeee.. (cut to scene: me running around the house screaming at the top of my lungs, and my 2 schnauzers running after me and jumping up and down on the sofa wondering what the hell’s the matter with me – total chaos).Actually I’m not sure that I can really consider this my first order considering that the request came from my Auntie, whom I believe is trying to be nice and supportive. But what the heck.. I’m not going to be fussy… I’m just happy that someone wants me to bake something for them! Yay!
So we finally sat down to discuss what she wanted… and it was decided that she wanted a rich chocolate cupcake, topped with sinfully thick chocolate ganache for herself. In addition, as she had a friend’s birthday coming up, she also asked if it would be possible for me to do up a face cupcake for her.
So as soon as I got home, I quickly started brainstorming on how to do up the face cupcakes… in the end, to cut a long story short, I decided to use a chocolate cupcake base topped with decadent chocolate ganache to create the base of the cake. To create the face, I decided to use marshmallows, some icing and a little bit of creativity to create the face. Simple, fun to make and hoepfully the end result would be cute…
These were what the cupcakes turned out to look like… what do you think??

I call these cupcake faces Chocolatey Choc Madness since they are just soooo sinful… Using a dense chocolate cupcake base, I topped the cupcakes off with a decadent, and rich chocolate ganache glaze and decorated the faces using marshmallows and chocolate… Don’t you think they look so cute.. even if they do look a little nerdy..

A close up view of the cupcake faces..

These are the cupcakes my Auntie ordered… also using a chocolate base and a thick ganache glaze, I thought I’d pretty it up a little using mini marshmallows and a tiny pink flower….

Had some extra cupcake batter left over so decided to make some mini cupcakes, topped these chocolate cupcake mini’s with a big swirl of icing and a little pink flower…

Last but not least…. thought I’d try piping some pink flowers directly on to the ganache glaze.. I thought these came out looking quite pretty and it looks just like a garden in full bloom…

The title actually perfectly expresses how i feel right at this moment. At the back of my mind I’m actually hearing a de de dum! as i actually type this out. Haha… to be frank, typing this first post actually feels weird, it feels as if the past 29 years are just a blur and only from this very instant with this single post does my life actually wink into existence out there in the world wide web. Hmm… food for thought…
Oh well… enough on that boring insight into my miniscule brain… and on to the hopefully more interesting stuff :p
Well, this blog to me is my first step in my journey on baking. Baking first caught my attention I guess when I was 5 and first tasted my mom’s home made Pandan Chiffon Cakes. I remember the rich aroma of pandan that filled the kitchen while it was being baked, and of course the wonderful taste and texture of the cake when I took my first bite. To this day, the Pandan Cake still remains a favourite of mine and brings back many fond memories every time I eat a piece. Unfortunately for me, my mom has since ceased baking the cake as she finds it a hassle, so I have to find satisfaction elsewhere.. sigh. Unfortunately I’ve never managed to find any that tasted as satisfying as the ones my mom used to make… I wonder why?
I wish I could say that this first taste gave me an epiphany and launced my obsession into baking.. but I have to say that for the next 7 years, nothing much changed until my first home economic class where we were taught to make a simple sponge cake, and were told that we would need to bake and decorate it for a test at the end of the year. Then and only then was my imagination caught! Hahaha.. surprisingly when I recently caught up with an old classmate of mine, she actually remembered the cake that i had baked and decorated into a bear. Surprise, surprise.
Unfortunately, after secondary school, my baking actually took a backseat to my studies and later my career, and only very recently have I made the decision to quit my job and give myself some time to actively pursue my interests in baking. Will this obsession bring me anywhere? Well, I guess like everyone else, I do hope that I would be able to make money while doing something I enjoy. However, whether or not this will actually happen, I guess it’s up to fate
So what how do I hope to proceed from here, well…. I hope to document my baking journey by posting up pictures and updates on my baking creations.
