I got a mail from Shane asking if i could make a Thomas train cake for her as that was her son’s favourite toy at the moment. She had also done her homework and provided me with a picture of the cake she wanted me to copy and asked if i could do it for her.

After looking at the design i said it wasn’t a problem and off i went to do the cake for her. Here’s what the final cake looked like.. notice the little accents of the mushroom, ladybug and snails on the cake?

I got an e-mail from Dawne who requested for a Power Ranger cake for her son, Freeman, who was turning 4. It was great working with Dawne as she already had in mind what exactly she wanted for the cake and how she wanted it decorated. Her most important requirement for the cake was that it had to have the Power Ranger sword since that was her son’s favourite object!
After looking at the picture she had included in her e-mail to me, I quickly set about to do the cake topper of the Power Ranger. Since I didn’t want to do the Power Ranger standing up due to the instability of the topper during transportation, i finally decided to do him kneeling on one knee with the sword in his hand.

I loved the simple design of the cake and how the white background offset the red and black colours don’t you!

Cherine who had previously ordered the L’oreal cupcakes from me was back with an order for a birthday cake for her niece. Her request was for a Pooh themed cake but she wanted it in pink since her niece’s favourite colour was pink!
After thinking long and hard as to how to do a pink themed Pooh cake, i finally got the idea after looking at some pictures of Sakura blossoms which happened to be in their flowering season when i got the request for the cake! The idea was to do the cake with Pooh and friends with a Sakura tree in full blossom!!
I loved the way the cake turned out and this is to date one of my favourite cakes of all time. And my favourite character on this cake is actually Eeyore which i made cross eyed trying to look at a little Sakura blossom that had landed on his nose
When Cherine’s niece saw the cake, the look of wonder on her face when she saw all the pooh and friends just made my day
Haha…. she just wanted to pluck out all the individual characters to play with
So cute!

Maggie’s son was celebrating his first birthday and liked the cake i had done for Natalie previously and asked if i could do something similar but of course with some changes so that the cake would be suitable for a boy.
Maggie’s final design for the cake was that the boy be in a little cap, wearing a little hoodie jacket and blue and black striped tights, holding a basketball and tigger. Maggie had also sent me a picture of her son with what she wanted the figurine to be wearing so i could get it accurate.

This was the final picture of the cake. I thought it turned out quite cute and i hope that Maggie and her son both liked the cake

Lisa contacted me sometime back asking if i could do a customised cake for her. However, she was torn between what cake toppers she wanted for the cake since her daughter actually had several favourites.
After some discussion with me as to whether i would be able to combine the different cartoon characters that her daughter liked on the cake, which i said would not be a problem, she informed me that the cake toppers she wanted included Peppa the pig, George the pig, Tigger and of course, Barney!
She wanted a sky theme for the cake with all of them having a picnic and balloons and flowers and butterflies all around the cake.
With the design already decided, i went ahead to do the cake toppers and this was the final result! I though the colours complimented each other quite well and i loved my new butterfly cutters which enabled me to do these fantastic butterflies along the border of the cake!
Hopefully Nikki, the birthday girl loved the decorations on the cake as much as i did. Happy Birthday Nikki!!

Alice contacted me some time back and asked if i could do a special cake for her daughter’s 1st birthday. She had done her research and had found a cake design that she loved and wanted me to replicate for her.
The cake was to have Pooh and Tigger, and of course the main figurine, Piglet hugging a “1″. In addition, she wanted some flying bees added to the cake as she thought they looked really cute!
I agreed with her and began making the figurines. It has been some time since someone had requested for a Pooh and Piglet themed cake so i really had fun making this cake. Especially the flying bees. Hee..
Here’s the final picture of the cake! I thought it turned out really cute and I hope Nicole loved the cake as much as her parents did
Happy Birthday Nicole!!

Nancy has a son who’s crazy about Thomas, James and Percy and of course her son wanted a cake with those 3 trains!
So Nancy contacted me and asked if i could do a cake and cupcakes in this theme. After some discussion, we decided on 20 mini cupcakes with Thomas and friend toppers and a 9″ cake. This way the children could have the cupcakes and the adults could eat the cake

I made nutella cupcakes for Nancy and a butter cake with vanilla buttercream for the cake. As Nancy had managed to purchase a Thomas train toy we decided to use that at the top of the cake and to make an additional James and Percy train as Caelan, Nancy’s son was crazy about them too. In addition, as Nancy wanted a happy cake, she also requested for some dogs and rainbows to be added to the cake.

Here’s what the final cake and cupcakes looked like
Nancy mailed me after the birthday party letting me know that the kids were crazy about the cupcakes and she had to keep all the little fingers off the cake.. haha… So glad to know that the kids loved the cake
Happy Birthday Caelan!

I got a mail from Mabel just the other day asking if i could do a cake for her son’s birthday. Mabel had seen the cake I’d done for Wenqi and was impressed with the figurines. As such she wanted me to do a cake for her.
Her only request was that the cake included a hippo. Why a hippo you might ask… well.. the story Mabel told me is so sweet and romantic!
Apparently Mabel is a fan of hippo’s and loves any hippo or hippo related stuff and collects them. So while she and her husband were dating, he had given her a little hippo soft toy. Later, after they got married and had their son Jing Le, this little hippo soft toy was then passed on to Jing Le and became one of Jing Le’s favourite toy. Isn’t the story so sweet!!!
So for them, the hippo has a deep meaning for them and was a must to be included in the cake design. As such, after discussing some various cake ideas with Mabel, Mabel finally decided on having a little boy topper in bed reading (since her son loves books) with the little hippo toy topper next to the boy. This design was perfect as Mabel told me that she always tucks the little hippo next to Jing Le when he goes to sleep.
During the process of making the topper, i was thinking long and hard about how to make the bed. Initially i was thinking of making the whole bed out of fondant but this would make the topper very heavy. So after much consideration and after cracking my brain, i finally hit upon a brilliant idea and decided to make the bed out of chocolate wafers instead. The chocolate wafers worked perfectly and i was ecstatic with the way the bed turned out!

My favourite for this cake was the little hippo i made. Don’t you think he looks like the soft toy!!
This little fella was only about the size of one segment of my pinkie and i was very happy that i managed to fit in so much detail on the hippo notwithstanding how tiny he was
Oh and did you notice the little dimples i added onto the little figurine to make it resemble Jing Le :) The hairstyle here is a little different as Mabel requested that i spike up the hair on the figurine
I thought this cake turned out great and I just hope that Mabel and her son loved the cake as much as i did, and they had as much fun eating it as i had making it
Happy Birthday Jing Le!

Hui Boon e-mailed me after coming across my website. She loved the cake that i did for Natalie and wondered if i could do something similar topper for her daughter’s birthday.

Hui Boon was really nice and already had a cake design in mind, so for me, designing the cake was really simple as all i really needed to think about was the little girl topper for her cake
As i always like to do the toppers a little different, i decided to do another girl topper that would differ from Natalie’s cake, and this was the final topper that i came up with. I thought she looked adorable. In keeping with the flower theme on the cake, Hui Boon also requested that the little girl topper be holding a bunch of flowers in her hand.
I was really happy with the way this little girl turned out and i hope that Hui Boon loved it as much as i did
Oh.. you guys might be wondering why there is one petal which is empty
The reason for this is that the petal was left deliberately empty so that Hui Boon could add the candle onto the petal later on. So here’s wishing Joyleen a very Happy Birthday and i hope that she’ll get a blast from this cake when she’s older and looks back on these photos

This week has been really hectic for me with 3 requests for cakes all due on Saturday and Sunday, plus some cupcakes as well!! Whew! I think the 29th of November is a very very popular date and there are lots and lots of kids with birthdays due on that date considering the number of requests i got for cakes and cupcakes for this day!! Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming number of requests, i had to turn some of them down which made me a little upset
So here’s a shout out to all those who i had to disappoint. I really am disappointed that i didn’t have a chance to do up your cakes and cupcakes, but i do hope that in the future i’ll have the opportunity to do up your cakes for you. Thank you so much for your wonderful support
Okie dokey… enough of my rambling… here’s today’s latest post
A Barney and friends cake for Luke! I’ve had some other requests for these in cupcake form, but none confirmed the order. In the end, Gina was the one with enough faith in me to finally confirm the order for a Barney and friends cake
Yay!! A new challenge.
Now to be very frank.. I’ve never watched an episode of Barney and friends and the only impression i ever had of this children’s program is that there is a purple dinosaur. So when Gina asked me to do a Barney and friends cake for her, i immediately got onto the information super highway and started researching on images of Barney and his friends. After spending an entire day looking at images of Barney, i was seeing purple (haha… sorry bad pun but i couldn’t resist :p), but the pictures gave me a good idea as to what the characters looked like and how to go about modelling them for the cake
So off i went to start on Barney. The 1st 2 figurines of Barney and friend came out too small to be used on the cake, so i ended up chucking them. But it was great practice though. Gina wanted something nice and bright for her cake as well.. so we decided on a party theme for the cake, and to give credance to that theme, i added some balloons, presents and colourful confetti circles in various colours!
I thought the cake turned out great and the confetti really gave the cake a festive air
Here’s a shout out to Luke, wishing him a very Happy Birthday and i hope that he liked the cake
