I got an e-mail from Dynelle recently after she came across my website. She asked if i could do some Astroboy and Tabo cupcakes for her as they were celebrating 2 of her friend’s birthdays on the same day and she wanted something special.
After some discussion we agreed to do a mixture of 2D and 3D cupcakes of Tabo and Astroboy… these were what i came up with
I just realised how long it’s been since I’ve even watched Astroboy cartoons.. haha… oh no.. i’m getting old!! I wonder if any of the kids out there even know what cartoon this is anymore or if they even still show this on TV! :p

Anyway, i do hope that Dynelle’s 2 friends liked the cupcakes and had a very Happy Birthday

As everyone knows New Year has just passed and Chinese New Year is just round the corner. To kick off the New Year and provide everyone in my extended family to catch up with each other, my cousin opened up her home and invited all of us for a Popiah party. Coincidentally the party also fell on another of my cousin’s daughter’s birthday. Thus, not only did we have a great family gathering, we also celebrated Christy’s birthday.
As Christy was also inviting some friends to her home the next day, her mom Sylvia asked if i could make some Cinnamoroll cupcakes for Christy as Christy loves Cinnamoroll. After doing some research on what Cinnamoroll is and what it looks like, i sent a couple of pictures for Christy to decide which she liked best. After making her selection, i then began making the cupcakes.
These were the final photos. I think they turned out quite cute don’t you think so
Here’s wishing Christy a very Happy Birthday and i hope she and her friends enjoyed eating the cupcakes

I got an e-mail from Mala about a month ago asking if i could make 2 boxes of my pooh cupcakes for her. Apparently someone had given her my cupcakes to try and as she found them very cute and colourful and wanted very much to share my cupcakes with her colleagues and family.

Unfortunately, not long after e-mailing me she realised that some of her colleagues were on a health kick at the moment so she unfortunately could not confirm the order. I thought that would be it.. but about a month later, Mala called me! You could imagine my surprise!!! Mala apparently had been trying to convince her colleagues to try the cupcakes and had finally managed to do so, so she was now ready to order the cupcakes!!!

So of course i had to do these cupcakes for Mala right
So off i went to make my yummy chocolate cupcakes with Pooh, Piglet and Tigger as toppers. I really hope that Mala’s colleagues and family enjoyed the cupcakes especially after all the hard work she had to go through to convince them to try the cupcakes
Thanks Mala for your support!!

I had a really special request this week from Kim who wanted some cupcakes to celebrate her husband’s birthday as well as their 2 kids. Apparently all their birthday’s fell in the same month and Kim thought it best to kill 2 birds with 1 cupcake or rather a box of cupcakes which would make both her husband and their 2 kids happy

As you probably guessed from the title, Kim asked if i could make some Mickey Mouse cucpakes and Pocoyo cupcakes for her. Initially i was really hesitant as I’ve never attempted to make Mickey Mouse before and had always thought Mickey was quite tough to replicate cos of the face. But Kim had every faith in me and was generous enough to agree to let me try making them anyway. So i agreed to her request and first started by scrounging around the internet pictures of Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. After finding some good pictures i started studying them to determine what would be the best way to go about making him. After several attempts, i finally found a way to make Mickey’s face which i found was the toughest and off i went to start making him. Everything went great until the weather turned on me. Wah!!! I had actually completed all of my Mickey, Minnie and Pluto figurines AND the Pocoyo figurines when the rain started up. Thinking that the weather should turn sunny the next day, i didn’t think much of it until the rains continued for the next day and the next day and the next day!!! In tears i saw all my hard work and effort in making the figurines go down the drain as my little figurines started getting wet, sticky and soft due to the high humidity arising from the rains. In a panic (as i knew that the cupcakes for Kim were due in 2 days time), i ran to check the weather forecast and to my misery found that rain was predicted for the next week!! Crap! I had to do something and immediately! I started modifying my fondant recipe in the hopes of finally hitting on one that would be able to withstand the high humidity and be able to dry and harden in time for Kim’s cupcakes. After several more attempts i finally found something that worked and spent the next day re-making all the figurines for Kim’s cupcakes.

Luckily for me all turned out great and the new fondant recipe worked and i managed to complete Kim’s cupcakes
Yay!! I think the cupcakes turned out not too bad considering the streak of bad luck i had :p

Thanks Kim for your faith in my abilities and for giving me the opportunity to try something new. I hope you and your family loved the cupcakes and most especially your kids loved the little Mickey and Minnie toppers
