My cousin’s daughters birthday was coming up and she (the daughter not my cousin :p) is crazy about the Thumbelina Barbie. So of course, my cousin asked if i could do a Thumbelina cake and some cupcakes in the same theme for her.

After doing some research, i said no problem and decided to do a Thumbelina cake with lots of flowers and little fantasy bugs. I also decided to try something new and decided to try something new for the wings. I wanted the wings to glitter but realised only later that i couldn’t add the glitter after the wings were dry.. so next time i’ll definitely add the edible glitter when the wings are still wet.

I thought the cake and cupcakes turned out well.. and hope Rachel and her little friends liked the cake and cupcakes!!

I received an e-mail from Michelle asking if i could do a Pooh and friends cake with the characters Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore on the cake. In addition, she also wanted some cupcakes in a similar theme.

After some discussion, we decided on the following designs for the cupcakes – butterflies, bees and ladybugs. Well i won’t say more and i’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Hui Hui had e-mailed me and requested for a special cake for her daughter Sera. The theme of the cake was strawberry shortcake but she wanted the Strawberry Shortcake figurine to be in the traditional Strawberry Shortcake attire rather than the new attire.

I initially had some thoughts about whether i would be able to do the traditional Strawberry Shortcake hat.. but after some deep thought and experimentation, i agreed to do the cake and discussed the design with Hui Hui. She agreed to the final design and off i went to make the topper and the cake for her.

This i think is now my favourite Strawberry Shortcake Topper of all time. She came out perfect and i hope Hui Hui and Sera were as happy with the cake and topper as i was with how the whole cake and topper came out.

Happy Birthday Sera!

Simon had seen some of my Thomas train cakes on my website and asked if i could do a similar cake for his son. As i wanted something a little different from the other Thomas train cakes i’d done previously, i decided to set the trains on a blue based background with little clouds all over the cake and little rolling green hills on the side of the cake. The train toppers i made on the top were of Percy and James since these 2 were Ansel’s favourite characters.
Here’s a side view of the cake and the trains…

Simon had asked me to include the rail road crossing sign as well.. but i had to do it out of paper and that wasn’t edible :p
In addition to the cake, Simon also asked if i could do some cupcakes for him, following the same theme… i of course said no problem. However, since cost was a factor, we agreed that instead of 3d trains on each of the cupcakes, i would do 2D faces of the trains as the cupcake topper instead.

These were how they turned out. The cupcakes included Thomas, Percy and James.
Don’t they look cheery and bright
I had a fun time thinking up various expressions for the faces and having each of the cupcakes with their eyes looking in different directions. Cute aren’t they

I got a mail from Shane asking if i could make a Thomas train cake for her as that was her son’s favourite toy at the moment. She had also done her homework and provided me with a picture of the cake she wanted me to copy and asked if i could do it for her.

After looking at the design i said it wasn’t a problem and off i went to do the cake for her. Here’s what the final cake looked like.. notice the little accents of the mushroom, ladybug and snails on the cake?

Hi everyone!!! I know it’s been ages since i updated my blog.. but it’s all thanks to your wonderful support and thanks for everyone who has been spreading the word about my cakes and cupcakes, and for recommending your friends and relatives to my site when they are looking for cakes or cupcakes for that very special occasion. I’ve been really really swamped and i do apologise for taking so long to update my website. Hopefully i’ll be able to update it more regularly from now on. I do also have to apologise for taking more time to respond to my e-mails… i’ve just been swamped with all your orders so it’s taking me longer than usual to reply. I’m still trying to juggle my orders, responding to e-mails and doing research for new cake designs and ideas all at once.. and since i’m handling everything alone, i do hope you’ll forgive me if i take longer to respond to you.
Well.. enough of my ramblings and on to the more important stuff.. yup!! New cakes! Erm… just a word of warning.. the cake picture is a little x-rated and explicit. So for people that don’t wish to see it please navigate away from this post
Thanks!

This was a naughty cake that Vicky asked me to make for a friends birthday they were having. They wanted something different and naughty so that everyone could have a good laugh at the birthday party they had organised. I’m also sure they had some inventive ideas as to what they wanted the birthday girl – Chryss to do with the cake.

This was a little bit of a challenge as i had to think of how i could make the main highlight of the cake.. or… “the appendage!”
.. haha. This took me a little time to figure out but i finally managed to do it.. or at least i hope i managed to do a fair imitation of it
Tried to add some veins to make it look a little more realistic too! I wasn’t very happy with the globes but overall i thought it didn’t turn out looking too bad.
Anyway, i thought the cake turned out quite well and i hope Vicky, Chryss and her friends got a good laugh out of the cake

I was recently asked to do a cake with the 7 dwarfs and a girl figurine.. (not snow white though!) to celebrate Faith’s birthday. They wanted the girl figurine to look like Faith but wanted to include the 7 dwarfs in the design.

This was one cake that i really enjoyed doing, cos i’ve been dying to try my hand at making the 7 dwarfs for some time now but haven’t had the opportunity till now. As the cake wasn’t very large and there were so many figurines and toppers for the cake, i ended up placing some of the figurines on the cake board instead as they couldn’t all fit onto the top of the cake.

I was quite happy with the way the cake turned out and i hope Faith liked it as much too! Here’s a clost up of Doc… and my favourite… Sneezy!

My favourite figurine among all had to be Sneezy! Hee… i dusted some extra edible powder to give his nose the reddish tinge.. and i thought he looked perfect. Don’t you?
I can tell you the whole time i was making the figurines for this cake and doing the decorations, i had the 7 dwarfs song running through my head.. and believe me it got monotonous especially since i only knew the 1st line of the song! haha.. you know which one i’m talking about right? The one that starts with… “Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It’s off to work we go!” It’s a lucky thing there wasn’t anyone around to hear me except my little schnauzer.. and he had his ears cocked or covered most of the time.. haha..

Anyway can you identify all of the dwarfs?

Jaslyn had e-mailed me and asked if i could do a sheep cake for her. It was for her husband’s birthday and she wanted 2 sheep cuddled on the top of the cake.
I decided to also add some rolling hills and grass on the borders of the cake so that the colours would make the cake pop a little more.

I thought the sheepy really turned out very cute and i loved the way the 2 of them were cuddled together don’t you?

I got an e-mail from Dawne who requested for a Power Ranger cake for her son, Freeman, who was turning 4. It was great working with Dawne as she already had in mind what exactly she wanted for the cake and how she wanted it decorated. Her most important requirement for the cake was that it had to have the Power Ranger sword since that was her son’s favourite object!
After looking at the picture she had included in her e-mail to me, I quickly set about to do the cake topper of the Power Ranger. Since I didn’t want to do the Power Ranger standing up due to the instability of the topper during transportation, i finally decided to do him kneeling on one knee with the sword in his hand.

I loved the simple design of the cake and how the white background offset the red and black colours don’t you!

Sheralyn’s daughter Kelly had a birthday coming up and as her favourite cartoon was Little Einstein, Sheralyn asked if i could make a cake for her in that theme.
After some discussion, we decided on having the Little Einstein’s ship as a topper and the Little Einstein characters on the side of the cake. After thinking about how to make the Little Einstein ship, i finally decided to make it out of cake. As it was my first time doing something like this, i was a little nervous.. but i thought it turned out fabulous and to tell the truth, i was pretty proud of how the cake turned out..
Happy birthday Kelly!!
