Birthday cake i made for my MIL…. :p

Well…. this is my 2nd attempt at making another birthday cake.. if you recall my previous attempt was for my hubby’s birthday a couple of months back
My MIL’s favourite cake is actually chestnut or walnut cakes.. but alas… i couldn’t really find a good recipe for chestnut cakes and i had no walnuts on hand… so i made her next favourite cake which was a coffee cake. I had found a espresso coffee cake recipe sometime back which i was dying to try and this was the perfect opportunity. In addition, this coffee cake had no butter or oil… so it’s a healthier alternative to most other cakes. Perfect!

I frosted the finished cake with chocolate espresso buttercream which tasted gorgeous and topped off the finished cake with 3 hand made edible fondant roses i had made slightly earlier. For added decoration, i added some leaves to finish it off.

Hi Deborah, thanks for the compliment. I actually don’t base my cakes on weight as i realised that my cakes are denser and therefore heavier as compared to sponge cakes.. so it’s best to drop me an order enquiry form via my contact me page and let me know roughly how many people the cake is to feed and the design you have in mind as well as when you need the cake. I’ll be better able to answer your queries then. Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
