Pooh tea party cake
Yen contacted me and asked if i could do a Pooh tea party cake for her daughter’s upcoming birthday. Her daughter since young always held tea party’s with her toys and as such, Yen wanted to do a Pooh tea party cake for her birthday.. the twist was that Nemo had to be at the Pooh tea party too!!
So after thinking long and hard about how to do the cake and include Nemo, i decided to do the base colour fondant in blue to represent water, and have a patch of grass at the top of the cake where the tea party would be held.
I added some little fishes and algae to the side of the cake as well to make it look as if you were looking into an aquarium
I loved the colours used on this cake which i thought really made it stand out. Don’t you think so?

Beautiful cake! The colors are vibrant! I love the little fish poking his head out of the “water”. Did you use gum paste for the characters? Superb job on them! I love to bake and I am attempting my first fondant cake this week for my son’s #3 b-day. Any advice for me? I made a homemade marshmallow fondant, tastes pretty good. I plan on making the cake a couple days in advance due to the holiday. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!!
Once again, wonderful job on the cake! Can’t wait to see more from you!

Hi Lurajean, thanks so much for the compliment
I was wondering if anyone would see the little fish poking his head out of the water
As for my figurines, they are actually made 100% of fondant. However, if you are using marshmallow fondant, i would suggest adding some gumpaste powder to it as marshmallow fondant is a little softer and may not dry as hard. As for doing your first fondant cake, i did lots of research on youtube where they have lots of great videos! In fact i learned a lot about smoothing on fondant on the cake from youtube and even doing simple figurines
It should be no problem if you do the cake in advance too! The fondant keeps the moisture in the cake so it doesn’t dry out so it’s great!
Anyway, if you need any other help or tips, feel free to drop me an e-mail
