Sharon asked if i could do a small Minnie Mouse cake for her for a family celebration. As the cake was relatively small i decided to keep the design simple and keep it in theme with Minnie’s Polka dotted dress.

So i ended up doing a pink and white polka dotted base with Minnie holding a little flower. My 2nd Minnie cake in the matter of a couple of days.. haha.. i find the same requests for similar character cakes always come around the same date.. i wonder why that’s so?

Yes.. it’s another request for a Thomas the train cake.. i realised Thomas the Train is really really popular with kids!! In the last couple of months i’ve lost track of how many Thomas Train cakes i’ve done and the requests just keep coming!
Anyway, here’s what i did for Vony who wanted only a small cake for a family celebration.

Yvonne had contacted me after she had seen some of my creations on my website and said she loved how my toppers looked. As her daughters’ birthday was coming up she asked if i would be able to do a Minnie Princess Castle Cake for her she intended to have a Minnie Mouse birthday theme for the party.
After plenty of discussions as to the colours of the cake, pink was determined to be the colour of the day. As for the Minnie topper, well, it was going to be a castle cake so of course Minnie had to be in a ball gown!

So i did a little research on the web and found a nice Minnie picture of her in a ball gown and modelled my topper after the picture.
I had not made a castle cake before and this was to be my first attempt.. plus it was going to be in 3 tiers! Not the usual 2 tiers that i had grown comfortable with. So it wasn’t without a little trepedition when i started making the cake. However, although there were some boo boos during the making of the cake, i thought it turned out pretty well in the end. However, i think in the future i will try and see if i can cover the turrets in fondant rather than leaving it plain although i think in this case the brown turrets actually highlighted the pink of the cake.
Overall though, i was quite happy with the way the cake turned out. Yvonne too was very very happy with the cake and especially the Minnie Mouse topper. I think it was all that edible glitter i brushed on that gave the topper that little added sparkle and made it that much more magical

My cousin’s daughters birthday was coming up and she (the daughter not my cousin :p) is crazy about the Thumbelina Barbie. So of course, my cousin asked if i could do a Thumbelina cake and some cupcakes in the same theme for her.

After doing some research, i said no problem and decided to do a Thumbelina cake with lots of flowers and little fantasy bugs. I also decided to try something new and decided to try something new for the wings. I wanted the wings to glitter but realised only later that i couldn’t add the glitter after the wings were dry.. so next time i’ll definitely add the edible glitter when the wings are still wet.

I thought the cake and cupcakes turned out well.. and hope Rachel and her little friends liked the cake and cupcakes!!

Kah Lip contacted me and asked if i could do a pooh and tigger cake for her daughter’s 3rd birthday.
Pooh is still one of my most popular cakes so far for children, so i hope this cake is as well received as all my other pooh cakes. Happy 3rd birthday Regina!

Shierly contacted me and ask if i could do a cake of her husband and her father in law who celebrate their birthdays on the same date.
She wanted me to do a figurine of both the father and son on the cake and after thinking about it, i decided to do both of the figurines sitting on the sofa.

Due to the humid weather, the figurines ended up a little wet.. but i thought they turned out ok. The clothes both figurines are wearing are based on a picture that the customer provided to me.

I received an e-mail from Michelle asking if i could do a Pooh and friends cake with the characters Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore on the cake. In addition, she also wanted some cupcakes in a similar theme.

After some discussion, we decided on the following designs for the cupcakes – butterflies, bees and ladybugs. Well i won’t say more and i’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Tricia contacted me and asked if i could do a cake for her son who was celebrating his 3rd birthday. The birthday boy loved Mickey and friends and asked if i could do a cake based on that theme. However, the cake couldn’t be too large as it was only for a small family celebration.

Due to the size of the cake, i could not do too many character toppers on the cake as it would make the cake look too swamped. However, since the birthday boy had requested for Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald, and i didn’t want to disappoint him, i agreed to do all the toppers but decided to place some of the toppers on the cake board so the cake wouldn’t be too crowded.

I thought the cake turned out great so i hope the birthday boy Rhys enjoyed the cake

Hui Hui had e-mailed me and requested for a special cake for her daughter Sera. The theme of the cake was strawberry shortcake but she wanted the Strawberry Shortcake figurine to be in the traditional Strawberry Shortcake attire rather than the new attire.

I initially had some thoughts about whether i would be able to do the traditional Strawberry Shortcake hat.. but after some deep thought and experimentation, i agreed to do the cake and discussed the design with Hui Hui. She agreed to the final design and off i went to make the topper and the cake for her.

This i think is now my favourite Strawberry Shortcake Topper of all time. She came out perfect and i hope Hui Hui and Sera were as happy with the cake and topper as i was with how the whole cake and topper came out.

Happy Birthday Sera!
