Monica had seen the previous Thomas the train cake i made previously for Caelan and wondered if i could do a smaller version of it for her son’s birthday.
As it was to be a small family celebration only, she only required a small cake enough to feed 6-10 people, so i suggested a 6″ cake. However, due to the size of the cake, i would not be able to do as many trains as compared to the cake for Caelan. So in the end, after some discussion with Monica, we agreed to do up just 2 trains on the top of the cake. I added some grass and flowers to the top of the cake and little bushes on the side of the cake as well to make it look just that little bit cuter :p Hopefully Monica’s son liked the toppers and the cake

I got a call from my cousin sometime back asking me if i could do a Ben 10 cake and cupcake for her son’s birthday. She was throwing him a big birthday party at “Build-A-Bear” and wanted to have a Ben 10 cake with cupcakes for Aaron’s friends.

Aaron is presently crazy about Ben 10 and had a few favourite characters which he wanted on the cake. After long discussions with my cousin on the various characters that Aaron liked, we finally settled on having Ben, and 2 of the other characters placed on top of the cake. And since Aaron liked the colour green, the cake would have a green base. I decided to add some silver stars to the cake so it wouldn’t look too plain.

As for the cupcakes, we decided on the Ben 10 watch to be the design. In addition, to this order, my cousin also wanted another order of cupcakes for Aaron’s school mates for a 2nd round of celebration, she wanted some cupcakes that both the girls and the boys in the class would enjoy. So we settled on having the Ben 10 watch design again (since Aaron liked those) and butterfly cupcakes for the girls.
A couple of days after the celebration, i found out from my cousin that apparently before they could even have the cake cutting ceremony, many of the boys at the party had pulled apart the toppers and removed the heads of the various toppers. Aaron was understandably upset and took a long long while before he could be coaxed out of his sadness of seeing the precious cake toppers being dismembered. Poor Aaron! That aside, i was glad to hear that Aaron and his friends all enjoyed the cake and cupcakes.
Happy birthday Aaron!

I recently got a very special request for rose and sunflower cupcakes with the words “Shen Ti Jian Kang” from Hwee Ling. To tell the truth, when i first got Hwee Ling’s request, my first reaction was pure panic! How do you write the words “Jian Kang”!! It was like “Ting Xie” in primary school all over again… oh man.. haha.. i think the last time i wrote anything in mandarin was probably in JC1! Luckily though after calming myself down and thinking for a while, it finally came back to me. Whew!! Think i better start practicing my mandarin soon before i totally lose touch with it :p And to call myself a Chinese too!
To tell the truth, I was consistently bad in my mandarin all the way through school but surprisingly i got an A1 for my mandarin for JC1!!! Yes yes.. i’m bragging but seriously it was just so unbelievable.. even my chinese tutor and school teacher couldn’t believe my results, both thought that i’d probably only get a B3 at best.. so they were understandably stunned when i got my results! To this day i think God had played a huge part in guiding my hand during the written exam and that’s how i got my A1
Plus special thanks to an old friend of mine who i think played a big part in improving my spoken mandarin, since we always conversed in mandarin whenever we were together
Anyway, to cut a long story short, these were how the cupcakes turned out
I think my piping has improved quite a bit but let me tell you my hands were shaky when i was piping out the chinese characters on the cake! haha.. my hubby even told me that my chinese writing is quite bad :p haha… i’ve got terrible handwriting i have to admit.. neat but ugly :p But overall i thought the cupcakes turned out quite nicely and i hope Hwee Ling liked them as much as i did… but then again, maybe i’m biased against my own handwriting which i’ve always thought looked ok

I managed to get in touch with one of my old old friends from secondary school via facebook sometime back and i can’t tell you how happy i was to finally get in touch with them again. Ever since i came back from studying overseas, i’ve realised that i’ve lost contact with many of my old friends and had no way of contacting them before facebook came along. So i can really say that facebook has greatly impacted my life by enabling me to get in touch with all my friends again, which surprisingly i never seem to see around town considering how tiny Singapore is!!
Anyway, Marilyn got in touch with me and asked if i could make some cupcakes for her son’s birthday. After discussion with her son and husband, apparently her husband got his way and they decided on Nemo cupcakes.. haha.. ironic how it’s the father who got to choose the theme of the cupcakes rather than the son who was celebrating his birthday..
I guess we are all young at heart and well who can dislike Nemo right
This has actually been my 3rd request for Nemo cupcakes but i still enjoy the process of making these little fellas
Marilyn loved the cupcakes when she saw them, so i hope her hubby and son liked them as much too! Happy Birthday Ian!!

I got an e-mail from Cherine some time back and when i finished reading her e-mail i was stunned and ecstatic!!! She was doing a promotion for L’oreal Paris and was looking for someone to do some cupcakes for her with the L’oreal Paris logo.
Oh wow!!! This was such a honour.. to be asked to do cupcakes for a promotion! Ok ok… cool down!! I was probably getting ahead of myself.. they were only asking me for a price quote after all and i mean i may not be chosen in the end right? Right!! But come on how could i not get excited about this right?!!! haha..
Anyway after some discussion with Cherine, the final decision was that we would use edible images to do the L’oreal Paris logo which would be placed as a topper on top of swirls of icing and let the cupcakes be decorated with simple decorations such as sugar pearls or silver dragees to compliment the theme of the event.
As i don’t have an edible image printer at home, i had to source for someone to do the edible image for me and had sent them off to be printed when i got a call from Cherine 2 days before the actual event when she told me that there was an error in the logo they had previously sent me and it needed to be changed!! Yikes!! Unfortunately the printer had already printed out the logos for me so after some fast thinking on Cherine’s part, we chopped part of the logo i had printed so we were left with just the “White Perfect” which was what the event was for. With one disaster averted i was keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else would go wrong since troubles usually come in 3’s.
Well… luckily everything else went great and the cupcakes turned out great. I quickly packed them in boxes and off they went to their event! A couple of days later i heard back from Cherine who told me that the cupcakes were a hit at the event! It was the only item that had the attendees going back for more. haha.. oh wow!! I feel so honoured
Thanks Cherine for the opportunity to do the cupcakes for your event :)

Jana had previously ordered a family cake from me to celebrate her daughter’s 1st month and she’s now back to order another cake from me as she loved the previous cake i made for her.
This time round Jana asked if i could just do a plain chocolate cake for her without any of the fondant figurines or characters since she had a craving for the cake itself
I agreed and decided to fancy up the cake with some strawberries and dual coloured chocolate shavings at the side of the cake.
I had a little trouble initially getting the chocolate shavings to stick on the side of the cake but i finally did get them to where i wanted them and to top the whole cake off, i piped on a little swirl of chocolate buttercream on the top of the cake and topped it off with a slice of strawberry. I loved how the cake turned out and how it looked both sinfully yummy and simplistically pretty both at the same time
Hopefully Jana liked the cake with the strawberries and chocolate shavings.. yummy

Joanna who i had just recently done up a family cake for, called me up again the other day asking if i could do a small chocolate cake for her son’s birthday.
The theme was Disney Cars theme! As the celebration was to be a small family one, she only wanted a small 6″ cake. Joanna told me that she wanted her son’s name – Aidan to be on the side of the cake with his age “5″ indicated somewhere on the cake as well.

Knowing that it would be a Cars cake i knew i definitely wanted a little road on the cake with the Cars placed on it so they would look like they were travelling on the road. But how to include Aidan’s age onto the cake? Inspiration struck and i decided to do the road to look like a “5″! Due to the size of the cake i couldn’t make the individual Cars too big so they had to be really tiny and that was a real problem since it’s really hard to add the details onto the little Car toppers when they are so small. After some very hand cramping contortions, i finally completed the cake and the 3 toppers
Each of the toppers measured only about 5cm in length! Yikes!! But all the hand cramps were really worthwhile and i loved how the cake turned out
I hope Aidan liked the cake too since his Dad seemed to like it very much when he came to pick up the cake
hee… Happy Birthday Aidan!

Winnie my cousin who i had made the very first Winnie the Pooh cupcakes for in an earlier post recommended her friend Brenaline to me during a recent gathering.
So Brenaline contacted me and asked if i could do some cupcakes for her daughter’s 2nd birthday for a mini celebration with the playgroup class. As she wanted something relatively simple that would still appeal to both the boys and the girls, we came up with some mini cupcakes that had lovely swirls of frosting topped with a little ribbon or little bird for the children. The cupcakes with the little birds had a blue swirl while the cupcakes with a ribbon had a pink swirl and of course all the cupcakes would be decorated with some sprinkles to make them more colourful and fun
I thought these cupcakes turned out really cute and i hope the children liked them as much as i did

Karen contacted me sometime back based on a recommendation from a friend and asked if i could do some “Thank You” cupcakes for her each individually packed.
After some discussion, we settled on the design and out i went to get hold of individual boxes to hold the cupcakes. I’ve been searching for a very long time for ready made boxes that i could buy that i could use to package the cupcakes individually. Lucky for me, i finally managed to find a place that sold boxes small enough to hold just 1 single cupcake! Yay!!!
Well the cupcakes were relatively simple in design with the words “Thank You” piped onto the cupcake done up in various colours. But i do think that my piping skills have improved a lot since the last time i made these cupcakes
As for packing the cupcakes, i thought that each of them looked like a mini cake once they were snuggled into their little boxes. So cute
Hopefully Karen and her friends that were receiving the cupcakes liked them and have as fun a time eating it as i had making them
