This Christmas my parents decided to have a little Christmas Party and invite all my cousins, uncles and auntie’s over to their place for Christmas. Since my parents are also getting a little old, my cousin suggested that instead of having my mom cook up a big feast, we’d have a pot luck. So after much discussion, it was decided that my mom would make her yummy pomelo prawn salad, and her yummy beef goulash with store bought ham and turkey while my cousin brought a deliciously sinful shepard’s pie. My aunt’s arrived early to my mom’s place and made ondeh ondeh and aglia olio. I know know.. the ondeh ondeh is a bit out of place.. but apparently they were influenced by the recent Peranakan chinese drama currently showing and well.. my aunt was just in the mood to try her hand at making it
I brought chicken crepes filled with gooey parmesan cheese that oozed with every bite you take, and of course, the cakes and cupcakes
And just in case the kids didn’t have enough to eat, i also went to Ikea and got myself a bag of meatballs with the sauce which is one of my favourite things to eat at Ikea, and my mom also made some fried wanton :)
By the time i arrived at my mom’s place, my aunts were in the midst of completing their ondeh ondeh.. unfortunately for me, i saw what they were making and opened my big mouth to ask.. Oh.. is that pigs in a blanket? How is it that the ondeh ondeh can look even remotely like pigs in a blanket you might ask.. well, the skin of the ondeh ondeh was pink!!! and looked exactly like ham!! Apparently i wasn’t the only one that thought it was a savoury food cos through out the night, several others also asked if it was ham.. haha.. but that aside, the ondeh ondeh did taste pretty good
The food was quickly snapped up and unfortunately for me.. i didn’t have time to take a photo of the spread before everyone dug in. :p
So once the food was devoured and the table was cleared, my Christmas cake and cupcakes made their debut
Everyone oohed and aahed over the decorations but no one had the heart to eat the decorations so i ended up bringing them home as a keepsake
I added a little twist to the santa cupcakes which i’m not sure if anyone understood.. haha.. i got the idea while surfing the web and if you look at the santa cupcakes slightly hidden in the background of the picture below, you will notice that you only see santa’s 2 legs sticking straight up into the air :p That was suppose to signify Santa getting stuck in the chimmey..
I thought they looked pretty funny. Of course i also cheated a little with the cupcakes and bought some ready made santa’s and used them as toppers.
All in all the party was a great success and everyone went home with a full belly
I hope everyone had as great a Christmas as i did. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

J.J had stumbled across my website while surfing through the internet and loved the christmas ornament cupcakes that i had on my website. So he asked if i would be able to make some Christmas cupcakes for him.
After some discussion with him, we finally decided on some Santa face and Reindeer face cupcakes. I thought these looked pretty cute after i finished with them… but i think there’s still some improvement i could do to the reindeer cupcakes
All in all, i hope that J.J and his friends enjoyed these cucpakes

I’ve been a little busy these 2 weeks so have been a little slow in my postings, so sorry everyone
Anyway, before i say anything more, here’s wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
So about 2 weeks ago, Adeline e-mailed me and asked if i could do some cupcakes for her. She didn’t want anything too elaborate but wanted something sweet for a guy friend. The design she wanted was just some cupcakes swirled with hearts on it and the words Happy Birthday Vinny on the cupcake.
To make the hearts a little bit different, i decided to add a little pattern to the hearts to make them stand out a little more. I thought they turned out quite pretty
I just hope that Vinny and Adeline loved the cupcakes. Happy birthday Vinny!!

Andy messaged me the other day and told me his friend Ben would contact me as he wished to order some cupcakes from me. Andy had previously ordered some Westie cupcakes and branded bag and shoe cupcakes from me, so i was delighted to hear that his friend was now interested to order cupcakes from me. Apparently Ben is related to the person receiving the cupcakes Andy had previously ordered from me

Anyway, Ben called me shortly after and asked if i coudl do some branded bag cupcakes for him. They were to be for his mother-in-law’s birthday, and they were intending to bring my cupcakes to give to her in Hong Kong!! Wow!!! My cupcakes are going international!! haha….
So after talking to Ben and his wife, they decided on having just branded bag as cupcake toppers and they wanted LV, Chanel and Dior. So off i went to surf the internet and do research on bag designs from LV, Chanel and Dior. After deciding on which bags i would replicate on the cupcakes, i began making the toppers for the cupcakes. These were really fun to do but painting on the LV logos and designs on the LV bags were tough considering that the toppers weren’t that big… but i thought they turned out looking quite good
I just hope that the cupcakes arrived intact in Hong Kong and that Ben’s mother-in-law liked it!

Nancy has a son who’s crazy about Thomas, James and Percy and of course her son wanted a cake with those 3 trains!
So Nancy contacted me and asked if i could do a cake and cupcakes in this theme. After some discussion, we decided on 20 mini cupcakes with Thomas and friend toppers and a 9″ cake. This way the children could have the cupcakes and the adults could eat the cake

I made nutella cupcakes for Nancy and a butter cake with vanilla buttercream for the cake. As Nancy had managed to purchase a Thomas train toy we decided to use that at the top of the cake and to make an additional James and Percy train as Caelan, Nancy’s son was crazy about them too. In addition, as Nancy wanted a happy cake, she also requested for some dogs and rainbows to be added to the cake.

Here’s what the final cake and cupcakes looked like
Nancy mailed me after the birthday party letting me know that the kids were crazy about the cupcakes and she had to keep all the little fingers off the cake.. haha… So glad to know that the kids loved the cake
Happy Birthday Caelan!

Anna e-mailed me the other day asking if i could do a Ultraman Mebius cake for her son, Emmanuel as he was crazy about Ultraman.
I remember watching Ultraman when i was young and always thought that there was only one Ultraman. It was only when i was doing a search on Ultraman for this cake that i realised that there were a few Ultraman and that for someone like Ultraman Mebius, he actually had different modes that he could go into. Boy i really am out of touch with all the cartooons now a days
Anna was really patient with me considering that i was really slow in responding to my e-mails recently due to the higher number of orders i had in the prior week. Anna never complained and even helped by sending me pictures of what Ultraman Mebius actually looked like so that it would lessen the amount of research work i had to do for the cake. Wasn’t she sweet!
Anyway… this was the final Ultraman cake i came up with. it’s only a half body of Ultraman but i tried to make the colours as close to the actual Ultraman Mebius as possible. I do hope that Emmanuel loved his birthday cake
Happy Birthday Emmanuel!!

I got a mail from Mabel just the other day asking if i could do a cake for her son’s birthday. Mabel had seen the cake I’d done for Wenqi and was impressed with the figurines. As such she wanted me to do a cake for her.
Her only request was that the cake included a hippo. Why a hippo you might ask… well.. the story Mabel told me is so sweet and romantic!
Apparently Mabel is a fan of hippo’s and loves any hippo or hippo related stuff and collects them. So while she and her husband were dating, he had given her a little hippo soft toy. Later, after they got married and had their son Jing Le, this little hippo soft toy was then passed on to Jing Le and became one of Jing Le’s favourite toy. Isn’t the story so sweet!!!
So for them, the hippo has a deep meaning for them and was a must to be included in the cake design. As such, after discussing some various cake ideas with Mabel, Mabel finally decided on having a little boy topper in bed reading (since her son loves books) with the little hippo toy topper next to the boy. This design was perfect as Mabel told me that she always tucks the little hippo next to Jing Le when he goes to sleep.
During the process of making the topper, i was thinking long and hard about how to make the bed. Initially i was thinking of making the whole bed out of fondant but this would make the topper very heavy. So after much consideration and after cracking my brain, i finally hit upon a brilliant idea and decided to make the bed out of chocolate wafers instead. The chocolate wafers worked perfectly and i was ecstatic with the way the bed turned out!

My favourite for this cake was the little hippo i made. Don’t you think he looks like the soft toy!!
This little fella was only about the size of one segment of my pinkie and i was very happy that i managed to fit in so much detail on the hippo notwithstanding how tiny he was
Oh and did you notice the little dimples i added onto the little figurine to make it resemble Jing Le :) The hairstyle here is a little different as Mabel requested that i spike up the hair on the figurine
I thought this cake turned out great and I just hope that Mabel and her son loved the cake as much as i did, and they had as much fun eating it as i had making it
Happy Birthday Jing Le!

Hui Boon e-mailed me after coming across my website. She loved the cake that i did for Natalie and wondered if i could do something similar topper for her daughter’s birthday.

Hui Boon was really nice and already had a cake design in mind, so for me, designing the cake was really simple as all i really needed to think about was the little girl topper for her cake
As i always like to do the toppers a little different, i decided to do another girl topper that would differ from Natalie’s cake, and this was the final topper that i came up with. I thought she looked adorable. In keeping with the flower theme on the cake, Hui Boon also requested that the little girl topper be holding a bunch of flowers in her hand.
I was really happy with the way this little girl turned out and i hope that Hui Boon loved it as much as i did
Oh.. you guys might be wondering why there is one petal which is empty
The reason for this is that the petal was left deliberately empty so that Hui Boon could add the candle onto the petal later on. So here’s wishing Joyleen a very Happy Birthday and i hope that she’ll get a blast from this cake when she’s older and looks back on these photos
