I just recently joined facebook and realised what a fabulous tool it is!! haha.. yes I know, I know.. I only JUST joined? How “sua ku” can I be right.. haha.. well.. the truth of the matter is that I just never bothered to join whenever I had gotten invites from friends.. it’s only recently that I decided to join it and realised how great it was.
Lots of people like it cos’ of the many applications you can add.. i.e. vampires, zombies, all out to bite and fight each other, applications which allows you to send little gifts or “poke” a friend, fluff friends – your typical online pet.. and so many others!! Well.. coming back to why I like it.. I like it cos it managed to get me in touch with all the ex-classmates which I had lost contact with after I did my degree in Australia! For me this was the best thing… I’m and ex IJ girl and ex-ACsian.. so it was really great to stumble onto facebook and realised there were actually groups out there created so that we could get in touch with all our ex-classmates! Classmates whom I’ve lost touch with donkey years ago are now just a click or e-mail away all with the help of facebook. Isn’t it great…
Anyway.. how does facebook link up to my title to my post you might wonder.. well.. it happened because of facebook!
I had joined a group in facebook that had put me in touch with my ex-classmates and one of my friends who had seen the pictures of my cupcakes decided to order cupcakes from me!
Yay!!!
As she didn’t really have any fixed ideas about how she wanted the cupcakes she ordered to be decorated, I decided to do try and do something special for her and came up with the ideas of hand molding fondant bears each holding a letter that spelled out the words “Happy Birthday” for the standard sized cupcakes she ordered. Here’s a pic of the bears without the letters… I loved how they turn out…
Don’t they make you wanna smile just looking at them?

As my friend had also ordered some mini cuppies.. I decided to decorate those cuppies as well with cute little hand molded fondant bees to go with the bears. With this idea in mind.. I started to do up my bears and bees before the big day and decided not to tell my friend, Adeline, so that it would come as a surprise
I wanted each individual bear to have it’s own expression and looked on the internet to see if there was any help to be found… as luck would have it.. Lorraine McKay had done up a great video on how to do a little fondant bear and I quickly dove into her video to do up my bears
Isn’t Lorraine McKay great!! I love her simple and clear instructions
Well… I completed the bears and the bees with no problem and thanks to a great fondant recipe I found, I now have no worries that the fondant would melt in Singapore’s hot and humid weather. Yay!!!
Well.. to cut a long story short, I completed the cupcakes and frosting and placed all the little fondant toppers on top of the cuppies… this are some pics of my end product.. Don’t they look cute!

Here’s a pic of my mini army of bees.. hee hee…

Here’s a close up look at the bee

Some other views of the bears and the bees prior to placing them on the cuppies

Oh, and if anyone’s wondering about the cupcake flavours, the bears were placed on a yummy chocolate cupcake topped with ganache while the bees were placed on mini cupcakes which included vanilla cupcakes with chocolate buttercream, strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, mocha cupcakes with coffee buttercream and my all time favourite.. banana cupcakes with peanut butter buttercream frosting. Yes!! PEANUT BUTTER BUTTERCREAM FROSTING!!! YUMMY!! haha…

Delicious nutella chocolate brownie with a baked nutella cheesecake finish… yummy

I was walking around the supermarket the other day and was craving for something chocolate and sweet…. and guess what I saw… yup.. a big huge bottle of NUTELLA!!! YUMMY….
Decided I just had to buy a bottle of that hazelnut goodness…
I brought it home and immediately opened up the bottle and slathered a good bit of it on a slice of bread before stuffing it into my mouth… delicious!
The nutella just started me thinking about a nice yummy gooey chocolatey cupcake made of what else but NUTELLA!! hehe.. of course.. i was also thinking that using nutella would help me save a lot of time in making a yummy chocolate cupcake.. :p
So I started surfing the net and realised that although there were many cupcake recipes which had nutella in it.. most of them just called for nutella swirled into the cupcake… hmm.. not exactly what I was looking for.
Well after a long hard search and much research.. I finally found a recipe that i thought would work with a little bit of tweaking of course to accomodate the Nutella.
Unfortunately as caught up as I was in making this new recipe I again forgot to take pictures of the brownie making process… arrghhh… sigh…. oh well… at the rate the brownies were being gobbled up by my hubby think I’ll be making another batch pretty soon.. haha
I’ll make sure I’ll take photos then and post it up
Well… here are the pictures of the nutella brownie topped with nutella cheesecake… DELICIOUS!!! The brownie layer was super moist and the chocolatey flavour was thick without being cloyingly sweet…. the nutella cheesecake layer gave the choclate brownie layer a fudgey texture which just made the taste of the whole cupcake just that much better. I think this is the best recipe yet!!! I could cheerfully stuff a whole batch of this down my throat… only regret I have was that I didn’t make the brownie layer thick enough. I think for my next batch I’m going to add a whole lot more nutella and make the brownie layer a little thicker… and to top it all off.. i’m going to heat up a little nutella and drizzle it all over the cupcake…. oh god.. i’m drooling just thinking about it!!! I wish everyone was here to taste how delicious this concoction is… it seriously is the best tasting thing I’ve ever made!!! haha…

Just realised that it’s been ages since i updated my blog as I’ve been busy during the Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day period… :p
I would just like to thank all for ordering the pineapple tarts from me and I was glad that you guys loved it!
I hope going forward I can get more orders next year.. haha.. and I think I’d better make more bottles just in case. This New Year I had made a number of bottles of tarts that I originally wanted to give away to my Aunts and Uncles… however last minute I had several repeat customers from friends… many of them had originally bought a bottle from me and had brought it home about 2 weeks before New Year..
Unfortunately a lot of them did not count on their hubby’s snacking… :p Guess what.. haha.. yup… many of them had to order another bottle from me at the last minute cos their hubbies had finished the tarts instead of saving them for guest during the Chinese New Year period.. hehe.. In the end I had to sell off the tarts I made for my Auntie’s and Uncle’s… but lucky for me I had some extra pineapple filling left over and I ended up making additional bottles about 2 days before CNY just in time to give them to my relatives
Oh well… I’m glad everyone enjoyed the tarts.. and once again… thanks to everyone for your support

Was going through my old photos the other day and just realised that I had some pictures of my christmas ornament cupcakes that I just had to post up!
These are pictures of my hubby enjoying the christmas ornament cupcake I made… :p see those bite marks.. haha… they’re not mine!
At any rate.. I did take a nibble and I have to say I was actually quite surprised that they tasted as yummy as they did!
I’ve always been hesistant about using fondant for any cake decorations as I’ve heard that they taste like plastic and are just horrible… However, this recipe I used was reputed to have a great flavour without having an overpowering sweet taste or the plasticy aftertaste that a lot of other store bought fondants leave in the mouth.. so I have to say I was very satisfied with the overall taste of the ornament cupcakes..
If I have to say so myself.. It is quite delicious
My hubby did manage to resist eating the rest of the cupcakes and passed some to his colleagues… the feedback that came back were also great
One of his colleagues actually saved the cupcake and brought it home to share it with her hubby… both of them came back saying that the cupcake was delicious
yay!!! Another successful project
Hopefully I can make more of these next Christmas and get more orders

haha.. took one picture with a bottle of Bacos just to show the size comparison

I’m hoping to make these bouquets available throughout the year for any and all special occasions including birthdays…
So if anyone else is interested in ordering these bouquets at any time other than Valentine’s Day do feel free to give me a buzz or drop me a e-mail
